The Queen City

This summer has surprisingly become the summer of baseball. We recently went down to Cincinnati to visit with friends, take in a new stadium, and experience Cincinnati. We were pleasantly surprised by the Great American Ballpark, and were even more surprised when the Reds beat the Padres! The view from the park is great... and we were drooling over the speedboats in the river the whole time (okay, Chief was, and Snicks was watching the game).

Following the game, we went on a tour of the city with our friends Jen and Jon. They are both urban types, and it is not surprising that Chief met them at a recent Main Street conference in Cincinnati. Our tour started at
Arnold's, which is the oldest bar in the city. We then took a drive through the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood (one of Chief's favorites) and through the university area. Our next stop was Skyline Chili in the Clifton neighborhood. According to our hosts, this is one of the best Skyline's in the city. Chief was a first-timer, but both of us were highly impressed and happy to be in such a famous restaurant. Following dinner we walked to Graeter's for ice cream, and then took a walk through the Clifton neighborhood.

We were able to snag a room at the Westin in downtown for a great price on Priceline (we love to travel, and love it even more when we can get a great deal). We are always fans of having the chance to sleep in the "Heavenly" beds. The next morning we took a drive over the river into Covington, KY. There, we enjoyed a tasty, French-inspired breakfast at the
Greenup Cafe. Following breakfast we took a drive through Covington and witnessed what we believe to be the end of the world's longest yard sale.

Although the trip was short, it was sure sweet to spend time with seasoned Cincinnatians, add another ballpark to our list, and have a weekend away.
