Introducing AG

Where to begin? We tried to post from Chief's phone in the hospital, but to no avail. AG (her blog name, not her nickname - if you want to know her real name, just call or email) made her arrival at 3:55am on 12/26. Chief's water broke in the living room at 7:45pm and, after laboring to 10cm at home (oh, yes, it's true), AG made her way into the world via a birthing tub. It was heavenly. Truly. No joke. Within 45 minutes Chief was ready to do it again.

The first day was a delight, but then things started to head south. Little AG (5lbs, 14oz at birth) is Coombs positive which was exacerbating her newborn jaundice. The next three days had her in and out of the nursery under bili-lights. Then... we got to go home and spent 24 stressful hours there before Chief's motherly instinct (goaded by her own mother's motherly instinct) decided it was time to head to the ER. We were readmitted just after the turn of the new year and spent another two days in the pediatrics ward with 24 hour bili-lights. Chief was able to stay in the room with her throughout. We finally made it home on Sunday the 2nd.

AG is definitely feeling better and her bilirubin levels are in an acceptable range. She is much more alert and feeding very well. Thanks for all of the prayers throughout!
