End of Summer Satisfaction

We had an AMAZING end of the summer in Minnesota! It started while we spent some time with C's college roommate, her husband, and her family. They are such a wonderful group of people and are so kind to let us "crash" their party on Labor Day weekend. We spent time on the boat, waterskied, swam, ate tasty food, made s'mores, saw a bear (okay, it wasn't a bear, but C was convinced that it was), and enjoyed hanging out. Of course, our time together was too short and now we'll just have to wait until next summer (or we'll go to see them in FL or CO... hmm).

We had a successful start to the Northwoods Fant. Football league - with a special thanks to Triple Threat for hosting the draft. It is fun to see friends, even if it's for a brief time and we are haggling over players.

We were able to spend a little time with B's family, including his grandparents, which was fun. We had the opportunity to show them our photos from our big trip this spring and enjoyed swapping stories about Egypt and other foreign lands. B's grandpa actually laid down in the sarcophagus in one of the pyramids when they visited years ago - how sweet is that?!?

We then headed back up north for a little R&R at C's aunt's resort villa. It was so relaxing and quiet because it was after Labor Day. B got in 27 holes of golf and C spent some needed time on the beach. *SIGH* how relaxing! We also met up with a realtor to take a look at some lake places. We would love to have our wish of owning a cabin become a reality in the near future.

Friday night was spent with B's sister and our niece. Here's a pic of B trying to play in AEE's Barbie tent - somehow he fit! B also showed her how to belly up to the bar. We had a tasty brunch the next morning with both of B's sisters, their significant others, and of course, our adorable niece.

Then, all craziness broke loose with the opening "PROST" of Brandel-a-Palooza 2009. A special thanks to Mrs. Brandel (you know who you are) for arranging the festivities! It was so fun to catch up with some of C's cousins, drink tasty drinks, eat outstanding German food, and polka. Seriously, how does it get any better than that? Oh, and B had his sinuses opened up by some minty-fresh German after-dinner snus.
The next morning (after a plush night at the W in the Foshay) we headed out to St. George (C's home parish) for the Harvestfestival. That meant MORE tasty food, more family, and more fun. Oh, and a little bingo.
Wow! That was relaxing. Hope all of you had a great end to the summer, too!
